PARAGLIDING SITES
SKILL LEVEL AND GUIDING
CP + 20 hours is recommended in general. Tandem flights are also available
for those who wish. A tandem ride over
Peyrepertuse is an experience you’ll never forget.
THE SITES
The five main sites are at Céret and Targasonne
in department 66 (Pyrenees-Orientales) and Tuchan, Peyrepertuse
and Leucate in department 11 (Aude)
1. Céret
Céret is the Catalan word
for cherry. Behind the town lies Col de la Brousse with north take-off
at 860m and south take-off slightly higher.
(Northtake-off:
sea to the right, Perpignan ahead )
( Francis
and Mike take off from Céret South )
The landing is enormous,
flat and grassy. It serves north and south take-offs.
Fly over chestnut forests, bundle up your glider and have a drink in the
shade of a cherry tree.
This photo shows Céret
landing field. The north take-off can be seen in the background.
2. Tuchan
You can drive up to take-off on the hill behind Tuchan and land in this
field, or by the river further down, or top land to fly again.
Maybe you’d like to cross the valley or fly over to one of the nearby
castles such as Aguilar, Quéribus or Peyrepertuse.
3. Peyrepertuse
A short drive or xc flight
away is the Cathar castle
of Peyrepertuse
. The take-off below the castle is thrilling.

Fly with the raptors

Be stunned by the views
Try the restaurant in the
village below where you sit under a large willow, facing an old mill and
listening to the spring water cascade down the rock.
4. Leucate
This site is on the Mediterranean coast, by a lighthouse. Wild thyme and
sage on the cliff top scent the air. On the beach
you can enjoy the sand, clear water and secluded coves. Kiting
and wind surfing are also popular on the coast and nearby lake.
5. Targasonne
Targasonne lies to the west of our other sites, between Prades and Andorra.
There are gently sloping SW and SE take-offs, from which you can do a gentle
fly to the landing field below or set off across the wide valley on an XC
flight. There is a paragliding shop and repair workshop close by. Please see
the Gallery page for more pictures.
